Sarah joined Simon Fraser University as the Manager of the Office of Research Ethics in November 2013. Her training as an anthropologist led to an appreciation for diverse communities and finding joy in differences, and her continued learning has led to an expertise in research ethics policy and knowledge. Her 11 years of experience in research ethics includes working for UBC and Fraser Health boards. She has been active in research ethics review harmonization efforts in BC for the past seven years, believing in consensus-building and open communication to build relationships across and beyond the current partner institutions. Sarah is a member of the Advisory Committee for Research Ethics BC (formerly, BC Ethics Harmonization Initiative (BCEHI) facilitating the review of multi-jurisdictional research projects in the province. Between 2016-2017, she led the continued sustainability of BCEHI from SFU. She has been a Director on the Board of the national research ethics association, CAREB since 2016.
