Dr. Kristie Westerlaken is the Director, Research Ethics, at BC Cancer. The Research Ethics team has oversight of ethical conduct and decision making in clinical, epidemiological, and behavioural adult oncology human research projects. They are also focused on capacity building in ethics, integrity, and compliance primarily through the development and implementation of robust education initiatives, advisory and consultation services, as well as undertaking research projects in these areas. Kristie has a PhD from Australia in management/organizational behaviour, and research interests in ethics, leadership, psychological entitlement, psychopathy, and deviant behaviour. Prior to pursuing her PhD, Kristie spent a number of years working in the legal and insurance industries in Canada and Australia.
