Dr. Albanese is the president-elect of the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences. She is also the Chair of the Ryerson University Research Ethics Board and a past president of the Canadian Sociological Association. She is doing research and publishing in the areas of policies affecting children, youth and families, including on the well-being of youth in Canadian Forces families (with Dr. Deborah Harrison, UNB); and on how care is conceptualized in Canadian family policies (with Drs. Rachel Langford; Ryerson U; Kate Bezanson, Brock U.; and Susan Prentice, U. of Manitoba). She was interim chair of the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology (2011-2012), interim director of the PhD in Policy Studies (2013), and interim director of Arts and Contemporary Studies (2016-2017) at Ryerson University. She is the 2018 recipient of the Canadian Sociological Association’s Outstanding Contribution Award.
