Sherri is of Cree ancestry from Sweetgrass First Nation, Saskatchewan currently living in Victoria, BC and is a Community-based Research Manager (CBRM) with the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network and the AHA Centre which is a CIHR funded Collaborative Centre and a program of CAAN. As a CBRM, Sherri assists aboriginal communities in developing their research capacities specific to HIV and AIDS. Sherri is the first Indigenous Co-Chair with Island Heath’s Human Research Ethics Board and has been in this role for the past two-years. In addition to her research role, Sherri is also a Sessional Instructor focusing on Indigenous Research and Indigenous approaches to Health and Healing, at the University of Victoria in the faculties of Social Policy and Public Health and Social Work respectively. Sherri brings her passion of ethical practices in its application to research with Indigenous People.
