Karen Wallace

Karen Wallace is the Executive Director for the Secretariat on Responsible Conduct of Research. The Secretariat is responsible for the implementation of the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR Framework) and the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS) on behalf of the three federal research funding Agencies (the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC)).
Since joining the Secretariat in 2011, Karen plays a key role in the Agencies’ commitment to promoting and fostering a culture of ethical and responsible research. Prior to joining the Secretariat, Karen worked in CIHR’s Ethics Office for seven years on research integrity and issues of non-compliance with research policies. Karen was also a member of the 2009 working group tasked with developing the first RCR Framework.
