Ivy Shawl-Song
Ivy Shawl-Song, BPA-Human Services, Values/Ethics Analyst focusing on child advocacy. Ivy enriched her undergraduate experience with training from the Equity Literacy Institute under founder Dr. Paul Gorski. She is a recipient of the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship and currently sits on Athabasca University’s Research Ethics’ Board in the graduate student position while volunteering in her rural Alberta community as a Commissioner for Oaths. Ivy’s social semiotic research in the MEd program is informed by the pervasive use and dissemination of Crown photography of Indigenous children to inform difficult history (Canada’s residential school system), and was voted ‘People’s Choice Award’ at the AU graduate student conference, 2023.
