Kristie Nicol
Kristie Nicol combines her science, GIS, technical communication, and health backgrounds to tell stories with visuals and to design accessible science content.
Kristie’s life with multiple complex chronic health conditions guides her word choices and design decisions to support and empower users. Her experiences with these conditions drives her involvement as an active patient partner, educator, and mentor. Kristie is currently a member of the Queens Park Care Centre Patient and Family Advisory Council, Providence Health Care’s Patient Health Education Material Committee, and (national) Advisory Committee for the Development of Minimal Consent Guidelines for Clinical Trials. The Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) Evidence Alliance will fund her health research on pain education as part of their 2023 Patient and Public Health Research Topic Priority-Setting. Kristie was UBC health mentor and patient educator with UBC’s Patient in Educator program for 9 years.
