Marlie Yoshiki
I’m a daughter, sister, friend, community volunteer, caregiver and breast cancer thriver. Professionally, I have over 20 years experience with a strong customer service background in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. Having been both a breast cancer patient since 2018 and an ongoing caregiver, I have had opportunities to publicly share my health journey and advocate for person-centered approaches to supporting patients and caregivers. Some of my patient advocacy work has been highlighted at Trillium Health Partners (THP) Foundation hospital website, and most recently by GoodLife Fitness Canada. In 2018, I joined Trillium Health Partners (THP) (in Mississauga, Ontario) Patient Family Advisory Council/ PFAC Oncology Program where I continue to be an active member. For example, I have participated in programs such as the Patient as Teachers Program, Patient Education Committee, various THP working teams and various initiatives. Since 2022, I have been serving as a THP Patient Family Partner member where my contributions aim to help improve the experience of cancer patients and caregivers by elevating the “voice” of the patients’ experience in the hospitals’ initiatives including participating in a People Centered Care model with patient whiteboards implementation, hospital accreditation and hospital fundraising events.
